What Is the FPSC One Paper MCQ Test?
The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) recruits for federal government posts through advertisements, and for many posts the selection test is a single objective paper made up of multiple-choice questions. It is often called the one paper test. The FPSC one paper syllabus is published for each post, so two posts in the same advertisement can have very different Part-II topics.
Two things stay fairly consistent: an English portion and either a general or a professional portion. This page is based on FPSC’s 2026 schemes and syllabi for Advertisements 01, 02 and 03/2026. For the provincial equivalent, see our PPSC one paper syllabus, and visit the FPSC hub for more exams.

FPSC One Paper Syllabus for Teaching Posts
Teaching posts in the Federal Directorate of Education combine English, a subject section and an education section.
Senior Elementary Teacher
English 20, Subject 40 and Professional 40 marks. Language subjects such as Urdu drop the English part and use 60% subject and 40% professional.
Lecturer (Colleges)
English 20, Subject 50 and Professional 30 marks. In Urdu the split is 70% subject and 30% professional.
Education Topics
Education system in Pakistan, educational psychology, classroom management and discipline, teaching strategies, evaluation, guidance and counselling.
Teaching Methodology
Part-I adds 60 marks of teaching methodology: curriculum, classroom communication, assessment, types of tests and research instruments.
Negative Marking and Qualifying Marks
FPSC’s 2026 schemes state a deduction of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. Qualifying marks are 40% in most cases, and 50% for some senior posts such as Professor and Director General. Because rules can change between advertisements, check the note printed on your own scheme and on the question paper.
With a 0.25 penalty and four options, a random guess is about break-even. Once you can rule out one or two options, guessing is worthwhile.
